Hannah Laine Band hits The Livery stage on the heels of her new album, “Unfolding”, on Friday May 16th!

7:30pm doors / 8:30pm show – $10

Hannah Laine is a Michigan-born singer-songwriter, pianist and loop artist. Laine was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to music-loving parents who immersed her in the sounds of Simon and Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Fleetwood Mac, and Heart, amongst others. She began singing and songwriting at a young age, taking inspiration from her father, who is also a professional singer and guitarist. Hannah started playing piano when she was 8 years old. Over many years of lessons, she learned the language of music and developed the ability to translate the songs in her head to piano and accompany her own voice. She shared her voice frequently, singing in the church band with her father, singing in school choirs and musicals, and eventually performing her own music. The music that we hear from her today is an authentic expression of her soul that is rich, colorful, and deeply moving.
Over the past decade, Laine has shared the stage with many respected artists including Kevin Garrett, The Crane Wives, The Accidentals, Brandon Coleman, Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers, Seth Bernard, Lady Ace Boogie, Desmond Jones, Jordan Hamilton, Scott Pellegrom, Tim Palmieri (Lotus), Michael Travis (String Cheese Incident), and Joel Cummins (Umphrey’s McGee).
In 2017, Hannah Laine released her debut EP Cut Your Strings, which features Brian Williams (drums), Justin Avdek (bass), and Chris Bota (guitar). Shortly after that release, Avdek and Laine started the Future-Soul band Earth Radio, along with Dutcher Snedeker (keys) and Mario Copeland (drums). Earth Radio began as a spontaneous recording collaboration of their debut self-titled album that went on to earn awards for Emerging Artist of The Year and Best Jazz Album at the Michigan music awards show “The Jammies.” Since their debut release in 2018, Earth Radio has released 4 additional albums, which have also been recognized at The Jammies (Best Jazz Album and Critics Choice awards), toured the Great Lakes states, performed at various Michigan music festivals, and received recognition in the “Best of The West” awards.
Throughout the past year, Hannah Laine has been busy recording her next EP as a solo artist with drummer and producer David Ward and engineer Maggie Heeren at La Luna Recording and Sound. Inspired by singers Erykah Badu, Nai Palm, Zap Mama, Eva Cassidy, Minnie Riperton, and Cleo Sol, her voice is strong, resonant, and soothing. Much of her songwriting today comes from experimentation with looping, the practice of yoga and meditation, a love of nature, and a keen awareness of herself as a woman in a world in need of healing.

Mike Struwin brings “Wires To Weeds” to The Livery stage for another hometown show on Sat, May 17th!

7:30pm doors / 8:30pm show – $10

West Michigan musical mainstay Mike Struwin has spent the last two decades regularly performing around the region. The singer-songwriter has performed his unique fusion of soul, reggae and Americana in area venues for nearly two decades, fronting several bands in the process.

On May 17th at the Livery, “Wires to Weeds” will be unveiled. A new project which aims to redefine the lines between traditional and modern Americana music.
Wires to Weeds blends textural rhythms and atmospheric effects with Indie-Americana acoustic instrumentation, providing a unique foundation for Struwin’s signature, heartfelt songwriting.

Those familiar with Struwin’s other projects might recognize contributing musicians Mike Kinney (guitar), Mike Nelson (bass), Matt Sypian (drums), Josh Bolt (mandolin), and Glenn McFarland (keys, sax).

The Livery in Benton Harbor has long been considered these St. Joe natives’ hometown venue, so it’s little surprise that Struwin and his crew have chosen the craft brewery to showcase the new project. The debut comes two weeks after a three-day recording session at La Luna Recording and Sound in Kalamazoo with longtime collaborator Mikael Naramore co-producing with Struwin, and engineer Maggie Heeren.

A new record will be released autumn 2025

Patty PerShayla brings her high-energy rock show back to The Livery on Friday, May 23rd with an opening set from guests, Emily The Band!

7:30pm doors/8:30pm show – $10

Patty PerShayla is already a rarity as a combination singer and bassist, but has established herself as a stand-out performer by meanwhile perching on one leg or strutting the stage in platform heels. She is heard before she is seen, boasting a big voice for a relatively small vessel, and certainly has a lot to say—challenging gender norms, confronting imposter syndrome, processing trauma—and don’t even think about getting on her bad side.

Patty’s first full-length solo record, SAD GIRL APOCALYPSE: bummer songs and ukulele adventures, is a short detour from the more adventurous, socially charged, electrifying rock she’s known for. SAD GIRL leans more introspective and many of the songs are a periscopic view from her basement bunker (a bedroom which was legally a closet) during the world’s most recent apocalyptic events. In under 30 minutes, listeners may empathetically experience the effects of confusion, betrayal, existential crises, grief, anxiety, substance abuse, childhood trauma, and an unshakeable sense of dread—but there is still space to dance through the tears. SAD GIRL is an experimental record, co-recorded and co-produced by PerShayla and frequent collaborator, Lucas Powell, in their home studio, featuring Patty’s multi-instrumentalism, incredibly versatile voice, devastatingly clever lyrics, and even cover art illustration. Patty promises to hang up her acoustic guitar and return to heavy songs and punk anthems in 2025 when her tears have dried.

Deeply passionate about following the music of her mood, Patty relies on crowdfunding sources like Patreon, Kickstarter, and GoFundMe for regular listener support to continue her band’s independent pursuits as full-time artists. Plans are in motion to continue releasing a record every year, maintaining collaborations with guitarist Lucas Powell and drummer Dave Hempstead, though recently shortening the band’s name, “Patty PerShayla & The Mayhaps” to simply, “Patty PerShayla.”

Patty’s musical endeavors have taken many forms: from basement jam session background singer in her formative years, to cantor and piano accompanist at school Masses in middle school, parody performer at Harry Potter conventions as a teen, alternative folk singer-songwriter and solo artist, multi-instrumentalist and side artist for The Accidentals, front woman for two Rush tribute acts (Catch the Fish and YYNOT), and full-on independent rock ’n’ roll banshee. Very recently, she discovered a new love for co-writing while working on collaborative album Sixthman Sessions Vol. 8 with fellow Rock Boat XXIII artists. Her online catalogue continues to grow from her deep well of cover songs on YouTube and continued participation in She Shreds’ annual #1riffaday challenge on Instagram. Having seen many sides of the music industry and lived several lives as a sound maker and vibe setter, her mission is to keep honing the craft and performing anywhere there’s an open space and silence to be interrupted.

“There’s an unceasing rock ‘n’ roll fire that blazes inside Patty PerShayla, evident in her refreshingly candid songwriting and impassioned, grin-inducing performances with the always on-target Mayhaps. Her music oozes infectious, blue-collar, Michigan-bred grit that’s destined for a universal audience.” – John Sinkevics, Local Spins

emily the band is a three-piece queer girl group based in central Illinois. Although they officially became a band in 2021, the love story between Emily Antonacci, Camryn Proctor, and Abbey Haste began in their teens. After meeting in high school and becoming musical collaborators, the trio realized they were platonic soulmates. Now, they get to spend their early twenties sharing their indie alt-pop anthems with audiences in Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Nashville, and beyond.

The Smokin’ Dobroleles bring their blend of folk, bluegrass, reggae, and hip hop to The Livery stage on May 24th!

7:30pm doors / 8:30pm show – $10

Forged in friendship and family, the West Michigan-based band, The Smokin’ Dobroleles, has the uncanny ability to feed off each other and their audience to create the perfect mix of medicine to cure what ails you. The Smokin melodic tremolo and solid chops of Mike Renna’s resonator ukulele and songwriting skills blend perfectly with Abe Kurzer’s soulful dobro and their vocal harmonies create a singular sound that will have your whole body swaying. Rounding out this eclectic crew and sure to have you smiling, we have Brandon Tabor holding down the low end on upright bass and the well seasoned, fearless timekeeper, John Ellsworth, on all things drums and percussion. Because each musician has their own musical influences that span genres across the wide tapestry of music including bluegrass, folk, country, jazz, rock, reggae, hip-hop, and blues, the group likewise expresses themselves in a cornucopia of style and sound that is uniquely Smokin’-Dobrolelesque.

The band pulls from a long history together and a deep repertoire of original and cover songs – all with that Smokin’ Dobro flavor. Their albums, Take Two and Pass (2018), The Smokin’Dobroleles (2021), and Live at Blue Lake (2023) take you on a journey through these various artistic influences. Their songs take on a life of their own when performed live and no two shows are ever the same. That explains why they’ve developed a following over the years while sharing the stage and opening for bands like Michael Cleveland & the Flamekeeper, Full Cord, ClusterPuck, Native Howl, and The Sam Grisman Project, and playing festivals including: Shorts Fest, Michigan Glass Project, Tamarack Music Fest, Noreast’r Music Festival, Hippiefest, Tie-Dye Festival, FarmFest, and Forest Trail music festival.

The Revenirs bring their midwestern Alt-Country to The Livery stage on Friday June 6th!

730pm doors/830pm show – $10

The Revenirs are a Chicagoland Alt-Country band reminiscent of Lucero, 16 Horsepower, Centro-matic and the Drive By Truckers.

The Revenirs sound revolves around singer/songwriter Daniel Rey’s tales of “sorrow and solitude” featuring Dennis Kardys on lead guitar and Dean Radzik on drums–both alums of Chicagoland alt-country darlings, “The Dirty Green”– alongside former “The Soup” (Denton TX) bassist, “Dodgy Mary” (Chicago) vocalist and Lone Star Native Willy “Catfish” Hudson on bass.

“Daniel Rey” began as the solo Alt-country, side-project of singer/songwriter Dejan Kralj (day-on kraal), who has spent the last four decades as the bass guitarist and one of the primary songwriters for Milwaukee’s reclusive alternative-rock band, The Gufs. The former Atlantic Recording/EMI Publishing Artist and 2012 Wisconsin Area Music Industry Hall of Fame Inductee is a life-time resident of the Midwest, Rey (the Spanish translation of Kralj) and divides his time between his current home in the Veltway community of Berwyn on Chicago’s near-westside and a small homestead in Southeastern Indiana, which has been the source of his alt-folk/alt-country musings over the last twenty-five years.

Daniel Rey has been performing throughout the Midwest since 2018 and released his debut LP “Living Low” on Milwaukee’s Red Submarine Records in 2020. Daniel Rey & the Revenirs are currently working on Rey’s follow-up and the band’s debut EP “Too Busy Dying” for release later this year.

Wheels North is a progressive Newgrass band from Northern Illinois comprised of Hayley Skreens (banjo/vocal), Mark Frystak (guitar/vocal), Jesse Fuller (bass/vocal) and Chris Grant (violin). Wheels North offers powerful three-part harmonies, skillfully crafted song arrangements, and an enticing catalog of originals and covers. Their live show is engaging and energetic, challenging the limits of grass-based music. Having released their first full length album, Arrival, in November 2024 Wheels North is excited to get their second album in the works!

Mark Frystak provides a driving force on his Martin D-28 dreadnought guitar while leading vocal duties. Frystak’s warm vocal tone & exploration of rhythm idiosyncrasies are cornerstones of his playing, spearheading the direction of each piece. As the former frontman of Close Enough, Frystak carries on his inventive song design to Wheels North.

Hayley Skreens delivers heart and soul with her signature vocal and banjo style. Her jazz-country vocal approach and melodic banjo interpretation are deliberately expressed in this progressive band. Having worked as a nationally touring artist for years in Under the Willow, she is happy to ground roots in the Chicagoland area.

Jesse Fuller brings a stunningly thoughtful element to bluegrass bass. The electric bass is chosen as a nod to the greats of the Newgrass genre, with the intention to push boundaries and his rock background. Instinctively knowing the needs of each piece is his foremost strength on bass, vocals, and arrangement. Fuller has most recently collaborated with the nationally touring act River Valley Rangers, and is now lending his laundry list of talents to Wheels North.

Chris Grant offers his eclectic violin style to complete the Wheels North sound. Having musical history in jazz, classical and gypsy fiddle, he yields a wide array of skills to further twist the take on Newgrass. Grant has collaborated with a myriad of projects, and in addition to Wheels North you can find him slaying on the telecaster in the outstanding band, Tiny Country.

Their music is well-steeped in Americana roots, with vocal harmonies that are high, lonesome, and tight. Their picking ranges from lightning-fast to mountain mellow. The Livery has a 250 capacity entertainment venue, housed inside our historic 115-year-old brewpub! We offer a “Michigan-centric” event calendar each month, with most live entertainment taking place on Friday and Saturday. We occasionally book a Thursday or Sunday event, given a strong history in our market. Otherwise, our focus is on our established local bands, Michigan-based bands, and other strong Regional/National touring bands. While we always like to give local bands the chance to cut their teeth on our stage, we simply cannot accommodate all requests….and we often find it difficult to book bands from out of the area, given the volume of requests we receive. If your band has a strong draw, and feel you would be a good fit to play our stage, please email booking@liverybrew.com and include any pertinent links and press material. Cheers!

**Please note that we are typically booking 6 months ahead in the calendar, and our programming focuses on original material**
