9pm show – FREE

Occasionally playing together in other music projects throughout the years, the three decided to meet up in late 2012 and jam to a song Prince had written. Realizing the chemistry they had, the Jake Prince Trio was created. The group mixes elements of classic and modern indie rock with a groove orientated rhythm section to create a blend all their own.

Guitarist/Vocalist Jake Prince has been man-handling his Strat for years. Formerly the guitarist for Chelsea, Michigan band Doctor Dwayne and the Band Boys from Spain, Jake has also appeared with other groups consisting of similar members and has played many shows in the greater Ann Arbor area, such as at Chelsea’s Summerfest. After a semester at Berklee College of Music in 2012, Prince returned home to get to work on new songs and develop his unique style that can be heard in the Jake Prince Trio.

Brian Long, the group’s bass player, is known for his technical chops, sporting a thumb-beaten Warwick bass and funneling out Victor Wooten jams left and right. As bass player for the celtic music group Chelsea House Orchestra from 2008-2012 , Brian has played festivals from Indiana to North Carolina, regularly showcasing his skills. Brian is currently also gigging with Liquid Monk, a funk, fusion, jam band out of Detroit. His style undoubtedly adds a solid element of groove to the group.

The group’s drummer, Michael Koss, is also currently playing with Indie/Soul/Rock band Lottie and the Manatee, a band frequenting Chelsea venues and including Prince on bass guitar. Koss has laid the beat for multiple bands and has played shows at Ann Arbor’s Neutral Zone and Power Center. Teaming up with Brian Long’s often complex, yet solid bass lines, the two create a groovy foundation for the trio.
